I am remember the first time I heard this I thought it was a bit unusual.

I heard someone suggest mentally declaring your "intention" before making a phone call or before a live in-person sales call.

Having studied some hypnosis and NLP myself, I thought to myself "We’ll yeah, this DOES make sense", I should have thought of this before."

So I tried it the next time I had phone calls to make on some leads.

I commanded myself to do my best, the most I could possibly do, to help my prospect find reasons to purchase from me and to prove that my prospect could get tremendous value from doing business with me.

And man was I blown away.

This was back around 1999 or 2000, in the early days of Industrial EGO Sales, when all I was selling was my consulting and coaching services.

I went from having a difficult time making sales on the phone to closing a high majority of my leads.

As anyone who has ever started a business knows, those first few sales are some of the most hard fought battles.

Hard fought because the battle you are fighting usually is with yourself.

Sales techniques are not the only thing you need to succeed at selling. Techniques are only part of it.

How you tune your mind is as big, and possibly a bigger part of your success.

So next time you are getting ready to make prospecting calls, call a contact at a deal you are working, or go out on a live in-person sales call, declare your intention to yourself.

Command yourself explicitly in detail to do exactly what you want to do at your best.

You will be *very* pleasantly surprised at your results.

And if you find that your  mind is lacking in some of the sales techniques needed to do the best you possibly can, then listen to yourself. Your mind is giving you a message.

Do something to improve your techniques now. Get the Persuasive Selling Skills Audio Program now. You can be listening online or on your iPod just minutes from now (while your hard-copy CDs and manual are shipped out to you).
